I was born twice
I was born in Placetas, Cuba, on March 11. During delivery I suffered three cardio-respiratory arrests while the hospital went dark in a power outage. I spent my first 28 days in a coma — and on Easter Sunday, the doctors handed me to my parents to say goodbye at home.
But God had other plans. I grew up with an intellectual disability, I learned differently, I knew rejection — and still I graduated from university as a lyric soprano, sang with the Miami Opera, and today I walk onto stages carrying the message my album is named for: hope is born.
“My life is proof that with family, love, and great faith in God, the impossible becomes possible.”
